Our Culture Intelligence compares how employees from both organisations experience their work environments across key cultural dimensions. Here’s what we found.
Culture Insights
Revolut takes the lead on several functional enablers—particularly Career Progression, Pay & Rewards, and Learning & Development. But when it comes to culture and values, Monzo stands out for being more Collaborative, Progressive, and having a stronger sense of Purpose.
Monzo significantly outperforms Revolut on Collaboration, with employees experiencing greater teamwork and transparency. It also scores well on Progressiveness, where it outpaces Revolut by over 25 points—highlighting Monzo’s emphasis on modern values, openness, and social responsibility.
Meanwhile, Revolut scores notably higher on Career Progression (42.4 vs. Monzo’s 3.5), indicating faster internal mobility and clearer advancement pathways. It also leads on Pay & Rewards, suggesting stronger compensation packages that resonate with employees.
Both companies underperform on Work-Life Balance
Despite strengths in other areas, both Monzo and Revolut show major challenges around Work-Life Balance, with Monzo scoring -40.2 and Revolut -31.5.
These low scores indicate consistent employee sentiment about long hours, stress, and a lack of sustainable working practices.
Similarly, both companies show weak signals around Empowerment, though Revolut performs modestly better here.
Revolut gains on Enablement, Monzo on Values
Revolut shows stronger scores on enablers such as Technology in the Workplace and Learning & Development, reflecting the fast-paced, results-driven environment often associated with scale-ups. It also rates higher on Diversity & Inclusion.
However, Monzo pulls ahead when it comes to cultural values. Its higher Progressiveness, Collaboration, and closer-to-neutral Purpose score contrast sharply with Revolut’s -42.9 rating on Purpose, pointing to potential gaps in mission clarity or employee connection to the company vision.
